The equation was simple for the Crusaders, the Christchurch franchise: either they won this Sunday against the Highlanders and bent the suspense by taking the title, or they played a final in Auckland against the Blues next week.
It was not easy for the leader, who had to wait until the last quarter of an hour to achieve the long-awaited success. Led 22-13 at the break, the Crusaders signed three tries after the hour mark, including two through Blacks winger George Bridge.

- SuperSport (@SuperSportTV) August 9, 2020Cruel result for the Highlanders who lost for the 5th time in seven matches, but this title rewards the good “season” of the Crusaders in Super Rugby Aaotearoa, who have lost only once in 7 days.
Next week, the Highlanders will host the Hurricanes on Saturday, and the Blues will therefore host the champions the Crusaders on Sunday for a final day where the only issue will be the race for second place between Auckland and Wellington.
