Coronavirus: nearly 11,000 cases detected in one week, 332 active "clusters"

785 new cases have been detected in the past 24 hours, and the positivity rate has been rising steadily for several days.


16 people have died from the coronavirus in France over the past three days, bringing the total number of victims since the start of the epidemic to 30,340, the Directorate General of Health (DGS) announced on Monday, August 10 in its daily press release.

785 new cases have been detected in the past 24 hours, and more than 10,800 have been detected in one week. 180 new hospital admissions were recorded in 24 hours, for a total of 5,045 patients currently hospitalized. Among them, 28 new serious patients have been admitted to intensive care in the past 24 hours, bringing the number of patients in these units to 396, against 390 on Friday. The regions " Île de France, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Hauts-de-France and Guyana regroup 70% of patients in intensive care, " specifies the DGS.

332 “ clusters ”, or sources of contagion, are still active in the territory, including 21 new ones that have been detected in the last 24 hours. Between August 1 and 7, 589,141 tests were carried out in the territory, with a positivity rate of 2.1%. Since the start of the epidemic, 108,315 people have been hospitalized and 83,047 have returned home.

In order to reduce the risk of infections, the DGS recommends wearing a mask, even outdoors if the distance of 1 meter is not respected, and to avoid too large friendly and family gatherings. " Focus on small groups, equip yourself with masks for the general public and hydroalcoholic gels, prefer outdoor spaces, ventilate the premises, activate StopCovid, protect the most fragile ", she explains.

Globally, the mark of 19.8 million infected since the appearance of the virus has been crossed, for a total of at least 731,993 deaths.
