The White House said Monday, August 10 " greatly concerned " by the re-election in Belarus of outgoing President Alexander Lukashenko, a poll with a disputed outcome which gave rise to violently suppressed demonstrations.

" We call on the Belarusian government to respect the right to peaceful assembly and to refrain from the use of force, " Kayleigh McEnany, spokesperson for the US executive, told a press conference.
