Sweida-Sana
The Directorate of Agriculture in Sweida estimated the total production of the governorate of walnuts for the current season at 124 tons.
In a statement to SANA correspondent, the assistant director of agriculture, Eng. Alaa Shuhayb, said that the production of walnuts for this season is good and better than last season due to the water reserves provided by the rainfalls and the availability of suitable climatic conditions for the fruit and contract.
He pointed out that the total area planted with walnut trees in the governorate is 990 dunums, including 28,446 trees, of which the fruit is 21,294 trees.
As-Suwayda Governorate produced 82 tons of walnuts last season.
