The very first music festival requiring physical distancing kicked off near Newcastle (UK) on Tuesday 11 August. The crowds usually gathered in the heart of the pit gave way to small groups of five people gathered in some 500 closed locations. All to prevent any circulation of the coronavirus, which is still rife internationally.

No less than 2,500 people were present on the lawn of Gosforth Park, in Newcastle, to attend the concert of Sam Fender, 26, who notably won the Brit Award Critics' Choice in 2019.
Small groups of five people
Gathered in small groups of no more than five, spectators were separated by barriers or parked on stands, depending on their location in the park. They had to say goodbye to travel to refuel with alcohol or food, since staff came to serve them directly in their small private space. The mask was not compulsory.
The return of the open-air concerts has been relatively well received by music fans on site, who will enjoy performances by the Two Doors Cinema Club and the Libertines from August 13, if they do return. Until then, Sam Fender will remain on the bill.
