Vacation 2020 in Turkey despite coronavirus and travel warning: Strict controls for tourists

Strict, stricter, Corona measures in Turkey : In order to prevent the virus from spreading, vacationers are tested twice for the corona virus on their trip to Turkey. Compulsory PCR tests are carried out upon departure , with a swab taken from the throat . Tourists in Turkey must have this carried out within 48 hours before returning from their vacation to Germany. The costs for the tests are the equivalent of 15 euros in a certified laboratory or 30 euros at the airport and must be borne by the travelers themselves. Only those who have a negative test result that is not older than 48 hours are allowed to leave the country. All those who tested positive must go to quarantine or medical treatment in Turkey .

Germans have been allowed to enter Turkey again since June 11 , the borders to air, land and sea are open. Tests are also carried out upon entry: the authorities take temperature measurements , among other things . Anyone who has symptoms that indicate the coronavirus must undergo additional examinations ; a throat test can also be carried out here.

It is also important for tourists on their vacation to know: In Turkey there is a mask requirement when shopping in marketplaces, in supermarkets and, as in Germany, on public transport . In many cities, for example Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and parts of Antalya, it is necessary to wear a mask in all public spaces. Distance rules also apply - three steps distance should be observed. The distance rules also apply to the beaches and pools . Lounging areas are partially marked out here, towels are only packaged. Cafés and restaurants are open again.

If you want to continue traveling within Turkey , you need an authorization code ("HES code") from the reservation, otherwise domestic flights, train and bus trips are not possible. The code can be received by SMS or with an app. Information on this is available from the respective companies. - wa.de is part of the Ippen-Digital network.
