The Murnau market town council waved through a motion from Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen, which points ten years into the future, largely without a sound. The goal is to achieve climate-neutral municipal administration by 2030.

The market community is now setting a good example: It wants to ensure that the local government is climate-neutral by 2030. The representatives decided this without discussion. Kohl had submitted the application in the previous legislative period.

Annual interim report

The municipality is guided by point 10 of the Bavarian climate protection offensive. It serves as a role model in climate protection, especially in terms of energy saving, the efficient provision, conversion, use and storage of energy, the use of renewable energies and their procurement. In order to achieve the goal, the municipal administration draws up an action plan. The progress is presented to the municipal council together with the CO2 balance in a report every three years. "An interim report is to be submitted to the municipal council every year," says the resolution. The environmental officers are to be involved in the CO2 measures. But that's not all: Mayor Rolf Beuting (ÖDP / Bürgerforum) will work in all companies with a majority stake to ensure that they join the goal.

Murnau is leading the way

Stefan Drexlmeier, head of the office of the Energiewende Oberland community foundation, thinks it's "great that there is such a decision". This urges the community into a pioneering role and shows: “The community takes its responsibility seriously and does its homework. That has a huge effect. ”The decision could motivate the average citizen. A crucial point is the “participation character”, that is, that you take the citizens with you. Murnau is clearly ahead with the project: Drexlmeier thinks that Murnau is one of the first municipalities in the catchment area of the Oberland energy transition to take this step. Murnau is a member of this community foundation, whose office is in Penzberg.

Kohl: The community should offer incentives

Green Council Kohl thinks that solutions need to be found, "to motivate the citizens to do more themselves". The municipality must advertise and offer incentives. The majority of the energy-saving opportunities lie with the citizens.

Fridays For Future welcomes decision

Fridays For Future Murnau welcomes the decision of the municipal council - "and is pleased that Murnau is setting a good example," as spokesman Jonathan Süßenbach emphasized yesterday. The group hopes "that the resolution will be implemented as decided".

Church: time frame makes sense

Before the meeting, the municipal administration pointed out that the Bavarian climate protection offensive initially only referred to authorities and institutions in the Free State. "Accordingly, this document does not result in any obligation to climate neutrality in 2030 for the Murnau market." Nevertheless, the matter is "an important goal" in terms of climate protection.
