The government has launched a call for projects endowed with 100 million euros for the attention of companies seeking to develop and invest, Bercy announced on Wednesday on the sidelines of the next economic recovery plan post-coronavirus crisis. " The call for projects will target as a priority the most critical sectors: health, agrifood, electronics, sectors providing essential inputs to industry (chemicals, metals and raw materials) ", specifies the press release from the Ministry of the Economy.

The call for projects, open until November 17, thus targets manufacturers who seek to " create new production units ", " invest in existing units to increase and modernize their capacities or make them more productive and more flexible " , or " develop and implement innovative technological processes on an industrial scale ".

" The Covid-19 crisis has highlighted the industrial and technological dependence of the French economy, and the fragility of certain global value chains ", explains Bercy. The strengthening of critical value chains by supporting the establishment or re-establishment in France of some of their links appears necessary. The objective is thus to reduce our degree of dependence on non-European suppliers, while developing the sectors of the future, ”he continues. This initiative follows similar calls for expressions of interest (MAI) previously launched for the aeronautics and automotive sectors, while the government also intends to complete its offer with a 5G component, deemed " strategic " for the future for the economy. The global economic recovery plan, for an amount of around 100 billion euros, must be presented on August 25. Its main features have already been unveiled in mid-July. It includes in particular 30 billion arrows on the ecological transition, part of which overlaps with 40 billion euros devoted to industry, as well as two components " skills " and " solidarity " of 20 billion euros each. About 40 billion euros of the 100 billion are expected to come from the 390 billion euros in subsidies from the European recovery plan approved on July 21.
