The Jewish community in the UAE responded this evening (Thursday) for the first time in a conversation with "Israel Today" to the peace agreement with the State of Israel. "We are very excited. This is a historic day for all the residents of the Middle East - Jews, Muslims and Christians, for all of humanity," said Rabbi Levi Duchman, the sole rabbi of the United Arab Emirates.

"We have established a Jewish community - we have Talmud Torah, kosher, community and strong support from the government. I am not surprised that our leaders are so special. I believed it would happen," he said hopefully. "The United Arab Emirates is leading everything that is good for humanity. I believe that as a result of the peace agreement more Jews will join our community. We are ready for that, we have the infrastructure ready."

The Jewish community in the United Arab Emirates has about 2,000 inhabitants. There is a synagogue in Dubai, usually in secret. The president of the community is Solly Wolf. About two years ago, the synagogue was first unveiled. Members of the Jewish community in Dubai, a quiet and secretive group of emirates, secretly operated it. The Jews of Dubai rented the villa, which is entirely used as a synagogue and as a kind of makeshift guest house.

The exposure of the compound, they explained at the time in the country was part of the openness between the UAE and the easing of restrictions on religions other than Islam. Now, after the announcement of the signing of an agreement with Israel, it will probably be even more pleasant for the Jewish community to demonstrate their Jewish way of life.

As mentioned, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump announced earlier that they would sign an agreement to normalize relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates. According to the US President, in exchange for the historic agreement, Prime Minister Netanyahu agreed to postpone the implementation of the annexation plan.

Trump called the agreement, made over the phone through American mediation, as a "significant breakthrough between our two major companies" and added that it would include, among other things, direct flights between the two countries, opening embassies, investments, and corona security and health cooperation.
