Shortly after five months of the quarantine ordered by the Government to try to combat the advance of the coronavirus and after having met with the committee of doctors and scientists that advises him, President Alberto Fernández receives this Thursday the head of the Buenos Aires Government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, and the Buenos Aires governor, Axel Kicillof, to define how the isolation measures continue.

The Government will avoid talking about quarantine , but in the field of facts for the Government there is no reason to change. In the metropolitan area of Buenos Aires (AMBA) and in Chaco, Jujuy and some of the towns of Río Negro, the areas most affected by the coronavirus will continue to have preventive and mandatory social isolation (ASPO).

Meanwhile, in the localities where the epidemic is more controlled, the Preventive and Compulsory Social Distancing (DISPO) will continue. "If you see the numbers of infected and dead, nothing improved," reflected an official who follows in the footsteps of President Alberto Fernández.

The head of Government Horacio Rodríguez Larreta was the first to arrive in Olivos, at 5:30 p.m. Forty-five minutes later, the Buenos Aires governor Axel Kicillof arrived, this afternoon led a zoom with infectologists and mayors. "Axel did not speak of any change of axis , he did say that he believes that the consensus will be to continue as up to now with the City," said one of the suburban mayors who participated in the virtual meeting.

Kicillof is concerned about the occupancy of therapy beds at the AMBA. "We continue to expand the number of beds every week and we are also coordinating with the private sector to improve the entire system," the governor told mayors. On Wednesday, its Minister of Health, Daniel Gollan, signed an agreement with his national counterpart Ginés González García and the mayor of La Matanza Fernando Espinoza to add beds from the private system to the municipality's network.

President Alberto Fernandez, together with the Head of Government of the City of Buenos Aires Horacio Rodriguez Larreta and the Governor of the Province of Buenos Aires Axel Kicillof in an informative press conference on Covid-19.

For the Buenos Aires president, the announcement of the manufacture of a vaccine gives a perspective to the leadership and the citizens, but nothing will change immediately. So it is expected that Kicillof insists on a continuity of the quarantine without changes.

As in his last meetings, the President meets with the head of government and the governor alone. They do not participate, as on other occasions, their respective ministers of Health and main political swords.

Close to the President they still do not advance if they will continue the prohibitions of social gatherings throughout the country. However, new dissemination campaigns have already begun to raise awareness among citizens.

The City will advance with few changes: individual sports ratings, shops on Once and Avellaneda avenue, streaming for shows (without public) and architects and engineers.

Larreta had postponed his plans to open bars and outdoor gastronomy that he imagined weeks ago for this date after a meeting with the President last Monday.

The meeting with the infectologists

Before receiving the rulers of the two districts hardest hit by the pandemic, Fernández, as is customary before each announcement, received the advice of the expert committee.

The meeting with the specialists ended minutes before 3:00 p.m. with the idea of reinforcing the message to society to maintain "distancing" and the care measures that prevent the spread of the coronavirus at this stage of the pandemic.

The meeting, which was held in Olivos and this time also had the participation of sociologists and psychologists, concluded with the idea of reinforcing the idea of social responsibility.

The infectologists also mentioned that the pandemic became "more federal in recent weeks," with greater circulation in some provinces, and they agreed that the vaccine "is great hope for the future."

The experts also recommended to the President that "they can continue" commercial, productive and recreational activities that do not involve risk, always bearing in mind that they must continue and even reinforce care because "in order to get closer to the vaccine we have to distance ourselves today ".

Mirta Roses, Gustavo Lopardo, Javier Farina, Pedro Cahn, Santiago Levin, Alicia Stolkiner and Juan Piovani participated in the meeting.
