The body found by divers on Tuesday " could correspond to that of this lady ", but we must wait for the results in the coming days of the autopsy and DNA samples for a " formal " identification , told AFP the prosecution from Dunkirk, confirming information from the Voix du Nord. In September 2019, a couple of Belgian divers disappeared during a sea trip.
According to the Voix du Nord, they had left, with their team, from Nieuport (Belgium) to explore a wreck lying 35 meters deep, at the limit of Belgian and French territorial waters. Investigators from the French maritime gendarmerie do not yet know why they could not come to the surface.
The body of the diver has not yet been found. Once the identity of the diver is confirmed, the Dunkirk prosecution may relinquish jurisdiction in favor of the Bruges prosecution.
