New York - SANA
The Security Council rejected a draft resolution submitted by the United States to extend the arms embargo on Iran after Russia and China used their veto power.
Reuters reported that "the US draft was rejected after opposition from Russia and China, and Britain, France, Germany and 8 other countries abstaining from voting," while only the United States and the Dominican Republic voted in favor of the draft resolution.
Iran confirmed last Monday that any resolution submitted in the UN Security Council to extend the arms embargo on it violates Resolution 2231 of the Council itself and is unacceptable and is a mockery of international law.
It is noteworthy that according to Resolution 2231 issued by the UN Security Council in 2015 after the signing of the nuclear agreement, Iran will be permitted, starting from next October, to buy and sell conventional weapons.
