The Israeli Air Force and its German counterpart for the first time in a joint exercise in German skies. The IDF Spokesman said today (Saturday) that this coming Monday, August 17, 2020, the exercise will begin at the "Nörvenich" base in Germany, and is expected to last about two weeks. The IDF also noted that this is the "only international exercise the Air Force has held outside Israel this year. "In the shadow of the Corona virus."
The IDF Spokesman's announcement stated that the exercise was conducted for training purposes "in unrecognized outlines, as part of the importance of maintaining the Air Force's competence, dealing with a variety of scenarios and maintaining the Air Force's close cooperation with foreign air forces."

The exercise will involve six Barak (F-16) fighter jets, two Ram aircraft (Boeing 707), and two Nachshon ("Eagle") control aircraft.
"During the exercise, the Air Force will practice together with NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) countries, describing various aerial missions as part of the 'MAG Days' exercise, an international event that takes place four times a year," the IDF spokesman said. "As part of the exercise, dozens of aircraft will be used to simulate scenarios of air-to-air battles and air-to-ground battles, to deal with the threat of an advanced TKA (surface-to-air missile) as well as combat descriptions in enemy territory."
This coming Tuesday, a "memory for the future" of Israeli and German aircraft is expected to fly past the Dachau concentration camp in memory of the victims of the Holocaust, as well as over the Firstenfeldbruck airport near Munich, in memory of 11 Munich victims, members of the 1972 Olympic delegation.

At the end of the flight, an official memorial service will be held in the Dachau camp, with the participation of the German Minister of Defense, Engert Kramp-Kernbauer, the Israeli Ambassador to Germany, Jeremy Issacharoff, Air Force commanders and other representatives. The ceremony will be addressed by the deputy commander of the Valley Squadron, Major Y., the grandson of the Holocaust survivor grandfather from the Dachau camp. Rabbi Mendel Moraiti will recite a memorial service during the ceremony, which will be broadcast live on IDF and Air Force platforms. It was also announced that Air Force commanders will visit the memorial to the 11 athletes in Munich.
