Dachau - “It's nice to finally stand in front of people again!” It was audible and almost noticeable that the words Oliver Pade alias “S. Tyr ”addressed the Dachau audience on Saturday evening, came from the heart. Pade is the founder and head of the band Faun, which is extremely successful not only in German-speaking countries. At Thomawiese, he and four bandmates gave the first concert after the months-long Corona break.

Faun runs under the self-created style term Pagan-Folk - an occasionally experimental mix of folk elements, medieval and traditional music from different epochs and regions as well as modern, even electronic influences. In Dachau, however, there was a quiet, romantic summer concert under the motto "Faun Acoustic". Pade and band limited themselves to rather minimally arranged traditional pieces and folk tunes. They played as a quintet, synthesizer man Niel Mitra listened in the audience.

Many Faun fans come to Dachau especially

Faun ensured with a high level of musicality, originality and a professional appearance that the Dachau Music Summer 2020, which was largely failed due to the corona, experienced a later climax. The audience listened on chairs, with sufficient distance from each other, a maximum of two people directly next to each other. When Pade asked who had ever seen a Faun concert, dozens of arms went up - many fans had come to Dachau to see their band again.

For Adaya Lancha Bairacli, the concert on Saturday was a premiere. The multi-instrumentalist only joined the Graefelfinger Group in May and managed to master the repertoire in an ultra-short time - with flute, bagpipes, banjola, harp, lyre. And she also sings.

Earth goddess and dancing Norwegians

Also on stage on Saturday were percussionist Rüdiger Maul, singer Laura Fella and Stephan Groth, who mainly plays the hurdy-gurdy but, like Pade and newcomer Adaya Lancha Bairacli, masters several instruments. The five offered a musical tour of Europe with songs and folk tunes from Hungary, Sweden, Spain and Greece, among others, as well as excursions into mythical, spiritual and fairytale worlds. There the mysterious earth goddess is sung about as well as the boy from Norway vying for the favor of the adored with a wild dance.

Since it was founded in 1999, Faun has given over 900 concerts and released ten studio albums. The CD “Von den Elben” was even awarded platinum - one more top group in the Dachau Music Summer, which has been known for its top groups for years. THOMAS LEICHSENRING
