The black stork is a large and elegant waterfowl, which prefers wooded areas near water channels. It finds its food - fish, crabs and small mammals - in open fields, shallow waterways and fish ponds. This is a chicken that does not like to be in the human environment.

For adults upper body parts in glossy black and white belly. The young ones, on the other hand, look like a faded version of them. The legs, beak and eye ring are nice and red. The black stork is noticeable in flight in its contrasting size and colors.

According to Dr. Yoav Perlman, the scientific director of the Israeli Birding Center of the Society for the Protection of Nature, black storks breed in Asia and Europe. In Europe it is on the species list of priority in nature conservation. "They pass through Israel. They have an important role in fish - because they eat mainly the sick and dead fish, and not the nimble and healthy ones."

Agmon Hefer is located not far from Kibbutz Ein HaHoresh and hosts many species of birds. The site is open to the public and allows animals to be viewed in their natural environment.
