54.4 degrees: A 100-year global heat record measured in the "Valley of Death" in California
The U.S. National Weather Service said a measuring station in the hottest area recorded the unusual temperature, which has not been seen in the area and worldwide since 1913. At that time, 56.7 degrees were measured - the highest temperature ever.

Monday, 17 August 2020, 15:51A thermometer in the "Valley of Death" in Southern California reached 54.4 degrees - the highest temperature measured in the world for more than a century. According to the U.S. National Weather Service, if verified, "it will be the highest temperature officially approved since July 1913."
The National Service weather station, near the Parc Creek Visitor Center, near the border with Nevada, recorded the abnormal temperature at 3:41 p.m., local time.
The all-time high in the Death Valley, according to the International Meteorological Organization, is 56.7 degrees, measured on July 10, 1913. These are also the highest temperatures ever measured on Earth.
