Tuesday, 18 August 2020, 01:34IDF fighter jets and aircraft attacked underground infrastructure of the Hamas terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip, the IDF Spokesman announced tonight (Tuesday). This is the seventh night in a row that the IDF has attacked targets in the Gaza Strip, when last night IDF tanks attacked Hamas observation posts in the northern Gaza Strip. The attack was carried out in response to the blowing up of explosive balloons and arson into Israeli territory, after about 20 fires broke out in thorny fields in the area of the Eshkol and Sha'ar Hanegev regional councils during the day.
Following one of the launches, a fire broke out in the yard of a kindergarten in Sderot, there were no children in the area but damage was caused to a warehouse that caught fire. Firefighters took control of the blaze, and an investigation was opened to determine the circumstances of the fire shower.
Firefighters, along with KKL-JNF and the Nature and Parks Authority, assisted firefighters and volunteers in the fire. Fire and Rescue noted that "most of the fires were small and not dangerous," adding that "full cooperation between all forces in addition to optimal deployment in the area, allows for rapid control and containment of fire spread."

Launching incendiary balloons and attacking the IDF tonight, continue the escalation while an Egyptian delegation arrived in the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing, to discuss with the Hamas leadership calming efforts. The IDF estimated that Egyptian mediation would bring about change on the ground, and prevent Hamas from leading to a deterioration in the situation in the region.
