March 17A: other protests that generate parallel ghosts for Alberto Fernández

There are smaller alerts that come from the Conurbano and the Interior. The image that the Government wants to avoid and the electoral perspective.

The original data caught the attention of Kirchnerist plants that monitor the information that comes out in traditional media and social networks. Days ago, in the GPS program of America 24, they interviewed Gustavo Flores, a man from Salta who told how they walked his mother with respiratory problems through a couple of hospitals, between the cities of Mosconi and Tartagal, and who according to his version died of lack of a respirator . "A nurse told me that they did not give it to him because he was 65 years old and a younger patient had it," he denounced. The worst face in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic.

"It is the first time that we have heard something like this and it is the image that the Government wants to avoid . And it is perhaps a more important alert for Alberto Fernández than today's march on the Obelisk," the source K expanded to Clarín . The debate, they would summarize analysts, it is more "quali" than "quanti". "The marches are also very worrying about insecurity," the official source adds. "Between 200 and 300 residents, outside of politics, and in areas closer to the Government such as the Conurbano, who come out to express their tiredness." As an example, they mention a protest in Villa Madero, in the always Peronist municipality of La Matanza.

The massive protests in the Obelisco and other cities in the country this Monday - the largest since the government changed but lower than the historic 8N of 2012 - had a  similar characteristic to previous mobilizations, although this does not mean that they should be delegitimized. They basically emerged from network users identified with the opposition discourse. A percentage called attention in the previous one: more than 90% of those who participated in the conversations related to the march did not have their accounts geolocated .

"They are people who hide from where they write and that can make us presume that they are what is commonly called trolls," the consultancy firm Scidata explained to Clarín . This would partly support the K theory that it was not a spontaneous movement. But a specialist from that same political space relativizes the "complaint": "You can have someone who knows how to light a fire, which would be the trolls; but you have to find a large area with dry grass to light it, which would be the people who shows tiredness. The 8N march was also promoted by Cambiemos, from the networks, and there were a million people throughout the country. " The concentration this Monday, they believe in the Government, fits into this logic and would have a limited scope.

The marches for insecurity or complaints about problems of care in hospitals, but in particular cases like that of Gustavo Flores from Salta, generate small parallel ghosts . After having very low numbers of infections and deaths from Covid compared to the rest of the world at the start of the pandemic, the numbers of the last days punished this story hard . "What had been a result of 7 or 8 points, will end in 4 or 5, with Argentina among the first 15 or 20 countries with more infections and deaths," admits a leader close to the ruling party.

For this reason, the Government is clinging to avoid the images and information that generated panic among Argentines at the beginning of the year and that convinced them to comply with a long quarantine: corpses that do not find graves or disconsolate doctors because they must choose which patient to try keep alive.

In this context, the news that Argentina could have its vaccine at the beginning of next year and perhaps a few months before other neighboring countries, opened new hope to the President. Today it sounds like prehistory, but Alberto Fernández won the election for the promise of starting the economy. Between the macro legacy, the pandemic and the quarantine, the numbers of his management are all red . In the best of cases, the Frente de Todos would face the end of its mandate returning to the starting point and with the wild card, always latent and counterfactual, of brandishing that "we would be worse off if Macri had won."

The short-term objectives, with the inescapable beacon of the mid-term elections , are rather modest: that unemployment does not skyrocket above 15% or that poverty does not exceed 50%. With an eye on the trend: that is, that the activity, even in the statistical subsoils, tends to rise.
