Charles Michel, President of the European Council, affirmed that only the Belarusian people have the right to self-determination, calling for avoiding any external interference in the internal affairs of Belarus.
Russia Today quoted Michel as saying in a message to the participants in the European summit to be held on the nineteenth of this month that the Belarusian people have the right to self-determination.
Earlier today, a spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, confirmed that French President Emmanuel Macron's call to the European Union to support the demonstrations in Belarus represented "a certain hypocrisy", asking him to support the "Yellow Jackets" protests in his country.
