At 4 am, the tropical depression in the northeastern part of the South China Sea gathered about 520 kilometers east-southeast of Hong Kong, that is, near 19.8 degrees north latitude and 118.4 degrees east longitude. It is expected to move west-northwest at a speed of about 28 kilometers per hour and cross the South China Sea. In the north, it moves from the coast of western Guangdong to Hainan Island.

The Observatory said that due to the related unstable weather, there were heavy showers and squally thunderstorms along the coast of Guangdong in the middle of this week, with strong winds and swells on the sea. The public should pay attention to weather changes. The Observatory will monitor closely.

According to the European and American forecast system, the low pressure area was the closest to Hong Kong on Wednesday (19th), and the intensity reached a tropical depression. The observatory is expected to be cloudy on Wednesday, with occasional squally heavy showers and thunderstorms; winds blowing from east to southeast with force 5 to 6. According to Beaufort's wind scale, the average wind speed of strong winds of level 6 reaches 41 to 51 kilometers per hour, which can reach the wind of Typhoon No. 3.
