With his song "The Rising" Bruce Springsteen throws himself into the election campaign for the US Democrats. Just in time for the party's election convention, the rock musician from New Jersey, who is revered by millions of fans as "The Boss", released a political video. It doesn't show Springsteen, now 70, but scenes from the presidency of Republican Donald Trump - and at the end the Democratic candidate Joe Biden with the words "There is not a single thing we can't do if we do it together" (" There's nothing we can't do if we do it together. ")

"The Rising" is the title track of a Springsteen album from 2002, which the musician ("Born To Run", "Born In The USA") wrote under the impression of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 - as Comfort for a traumatized US population. Springsteen has been a Democrat supporter for decades.

The singer was extremely critical of Trump and his three-and-a-half-year reign after the death of the African American George Floyd through brutal police violence in May. The new video for Springsteen's hymn now shows pictures of current political events: The fight against the corona pandemic or against racism - as well as scenes of solidarity from many Americans.

Rock colleague Neil Young distances himself from Trump

Just a few days ago, the Canadian-American rock singer Neil Young (74, "Heart Of Gold") documented his militant rejection of Trump in a new video. In it he sings the 14-year-old song "Lookin 'For A Leader", which he has rewritten with new lyrics to attack the Republican US President. This video was also to be understood as an appeal to elect the opposition US Democrats and Biden on November 3rd.
