Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said tonight (Tuesday) at a Palestinian leadership conference attended by Hamas and Islamic Jihad that Israel's agreement with the United Arab Emirates was a "stab in the back." Abu Mazen made it clear that he strongly opposed normalizing Arab relations with Israel.
"Normalization is an Arab issue that the Arabs and Muslims agreed on in the Arab Peace Initiative in 2002," the Palestinian Authority chairman claimed. "There is an initiative that was signed at the Beirut summit and at all the summits that followed, and everyone agreed that normalization could not be pursued until after the Palestinian issue had been resolved."
He appealed to the United Arab Emirates, adding that "if you do not remember that there is an Arab initiative then everything is a scam. If you want to be alone say honestly, instead of talking or justifying it on the pretext that you brought victory to the Palestinians on annexation." "There is no such thing as stopping annexation. I will annex and impose sovereignty over all the territories agreed upon."

"Our position is that we will withdraw from an agreement with any country that does so, whether Arab or Islamic, because some countries are secretive and some publicly say there is no impediment. We Palestinians are strongly opposed to any country that does this - you must respect the decisions you signed," he added.
