Lotto 6 out of 49 will be more expensive - from September 23rd
If a jackpot is not cracked, i.e. no participant has six correct numbers plus a super number, the winnings increase until the next drawing. So far, the rule has been that the jackpot must be paid out after twelve jackpots that have not been distributed in the 13th drawing. If this occurs, the sum is distributed among several players or a player who only has 5 correct numbers, for example, can win the jackpot.
Since the 13th drawing will take place on Wednesday (August 19) after twelve jackpots that have not been cracked, the current prize money of 28 million euros will definitely be paid out. In a press release, Lotto Deutschland describes four scenarios of how the profit distribution could look like:
- If there is one or more winners in the 1st prize class (6 correct numbers plus super number) , the amount ispaid regularly.
- If no player wins in the 1st prize class, the jackpot is assigned to prize class 2 (6 correct numbers) and distributed there.
- If this remains unoccupied, the next lower prize class receives the jackpot (5 correct numbers plus super number) etc.
- Theoretically, although extremely unlikely , it is also possible that the winners of prize category 8 (3 correct numbers) split the jackpot among themselves.
