While one of Rheinmetall's mainstays is weak, the other is more robust than ever: a number of countries are increasing their armaments spending. Now the Düsseldorf group is supposed to build armored personnel carriers for Hungary.
Budapest (dpa) - The Düsseldorf-based Rheinmetall group is to produce Lynx armored personnel carriers for the Hungarian army. This was announced by the government in Budapest, as the government-affiliated Hungarian state news agency MTI reported late Monday evening.
Hungary concluded an agreement with Rheinmetall on Monday. Accordingly, both sides are to found a joint company and a production facility for the most modern Lynx armored personnel carriers in Hungary. The value of this program amounts to more than two billion euros. The aim is for the NATO member's army to reach world standards as quickly as possible.
