Update from August 18, 6.44 p.m.: After heavy thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail in the afternoon, the German weather situation calmed down a bit towards evening. According to the severe weather warning card from the German Weather Service (DWD) , there is only “striking weather” in different locations, which corresponds to the second of four warning levels.
On Wednesday it should be warm and dry all over Germany. According to the DWD, the highest temperatures are expected between Cologne and Frankfurt. The thermometer should show almost 30 degrees there.

Update from August 18, 2:34 p.m.: The German Meteorological Service has now issued the highest warning level (level 4) for the region around Prenslau in northern Brandenburg and the area around the Hanseatic city of Anklam in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . Heavy thunderstorms including "extremely heavy rain and hail" are to be expected there, according to the DWD warning report. The amount of precipitation could reach around 50 l / m² per hour. The DWD also warns of gusts of wind at speeds of up to 75 kilometers per hour. Thunderstorms can also be expected in Bavaria.

In the course of Wednesday the storms will subside for the time being. Then the temperatures will soar again, said Jens Bonewitz from the German Weather Service in Offenbach on Tuesday. "In the west and on the Upper Rhine the 30 degrees are right back." In addition, it remains mostly dry; only from the northeast to the southeast are individual thunderstorms possible, which can be strong.
By Thursday at the latest, the summer weather will spread in the southeast half with lots of sun and heat, locally the values can reach 35 degrees . In the northwest, however, clouds ensure precipitation and somewhat subdued temperatures. In the course of the day it gets friendlier there too.
But the next bad weather front is already in sight. On Friday the people in the north-west get the worst weather in the republic again, it is mostly very cloudy and raining. Otherwise there is pool weather in Germany with muggy temperatures between 29 and 35 degrees .

Update from August 18, 1:49 p.m.: According to the DWD's warning card, the most violent thunderstorms have now shifted to the Uckermark district in Brandenburg. There is currently a level three severe weather warning.

Update from August 18, 8:14 a.m.: The German Weather Service is expecting violent thunderstorms, in some places with severe weather potential , on Tuesday. Responsible is a so-called "low pressure channel" , which is filled with warm, humid air and slowly moves northeastwards.
In the north and south-east, individual showers and thunderstorms can be expected, which bring heavy rain between 15 and 25 l / m². In the afternoon and evening, thunderstorms and heavy rain intensify again and, according to DWD forecasts, are accompanied by precipitation of up to 40 l / m² in a short time. Numerous thunderstorms hit large parts of Germany on Monday (see first report from August 17th). In the south of Lower Saxony, a tornado was even reported via the DWD warning weather app.

Update from August 17, 10:28 p.m.: August is currently showing a very summery side. On Monday (August 17th) the thermometer climbed to 30 degrees again. It was especially warm in the northeast. It was also unusually hot on the island of Sylt. This shows a map with the maximum temperatures of the day, which was published on Kachelmannwetter.

After the thunderstorms on Monday evening, it will be friendlier again on Tuesday. Almost all over Germany, sun and clouds can be seen at 17 to 27 degrees.
