According to the severe weather warning card from the German Weather Service (DWD) , there is only “striking weather” in different locations, which corresponds to the second of four warning levels.

On Wednesday it should be warm and dry all over Germany. According to the DWD, the highest temperatures are expected between Cologne and Frankfurt. The thermometer should show almost 30 degrees there.

Update from August 18, 2:34 p.m.: The German Meteorological Service has now issued the highest warning level (level 4) for the region around Prenslau in northern Brandenburg and the area around the Hanseatic city of Anklam in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . Heavy thunderstorms including "extremely heavy rain and hail" are to be expected there, according to the DWD warning report. The amount of precipitation could reach around 50 l / m² per hour. The DWD also warns of gusts of wind at speeds of up to 75 kilometers per hour. Thunderstorms can also be expected in Bavaria.

"In the west and on the Upper Rhine the 30 degrees are right back." By Thursday at the latest, the summer weather will spread in the southeast half with lots of sun and heat, locally the values can reach 35 degrees . In the northwest, however, clouds ensure precipitation and somewhat subdued temperatures. In the course of the day it gets friendlier there too.

But the next bad weather front is already in sight. On Friday the people in the north-west get the worst weather in the republic again, it is mostly very cloudy and raining. Otherwise there is pool weather in Germany with muggy temperatures between 29 and 35 degrees .

Update from August 18, 8:14 a.m.: The German Weather Service is expecting violent thunderstorms, in some places with severe weather potential , on Tuesday. Responsible is a so-called "low pressure channel" , which is filled with warm, humid air and slowly moves northeastwards.
