Now almost all city council groups from Schongau have joined the "Alliance against the planned Altenstadt waste incineration plant", most recently the CSU Schongau. The arguments are similar for all of them; above all, they demand transparency and reliable information.

Schongau - As parliamentary group spokeswoman Kornelia Funke told Schongauer Nachrichten, the protection of citizens and the transparency of the procedure are particularly important to the CSU Schongau. "We are concerned with public, all-encompassing information with data, facts and measurements," said Funke. The quality assurance of the fuel must be guaranteed. There has also been a lack of information about the catchment area from which the fuels come, what additional truck traffic is to be expected and thus increased pollution and noise pollution for citizens.

Scientifically supported test series required

"Scientifically accompanied test series would have to be carried out," demands the Schongau CSU. Like the other alliance partners, it is expected that the government of Upper Bavaria will classify the change in use as a major change and thus enable a new procedure with citizen participation. "We would also suggest external and independent measurements by an expert by the city of Schongau," said Funke.

At UWV Schongau, they want to vote on the topic after the vacation time, as chairman Stephan Hild announced. "For us Schongau residents it is time to know what strains we have to endure from the three Altenstadt-based companies in the west of Schongau," says Hild, and lists possible strains in the air, in the soil and in the groundwater. "An assessment can only be made after these data from the thermal power station, the fodder drying and emter are available and analyzed."

The ALS was one of the first groups to join the alliance

Among the first to join the action alliance initiated by Hans Schütz and the Pfaffenwinkel environmental initiative was the ALS - Colorful List for Schongau. "When it comes to justice and transparency, there is a lot going on," says Andreas Ohr, who is currently dealing intensively with the problem of heating and power stations and who represents the ALS in the action alliance. “It's more like everything runs backwards,” says Ohr.

As early as 2004, the operator changed the wood classes without public participation, "and chipboard has less to do with biomass, there are a lot of disgusting things in it." Basically, the quality of life in the Forchet decreases as a result of the expansion. "And the operator filters, but also applies to be allowed to carry out fewer measurements."

Ohr is convinced that "various things are being swept under the carpet" and wants to help the alliance to collect facts. The ALS is particularly bothered by the fact that everything should run without public participation. And the comparison with the substitute fuel from Erbenschwang.

"What annoys me is that the heat is not used"

"What really annoys me is that the heat is not used," says Ohr, who himself lives in Forchet IV. In his opinion, there should have been a solution for the Forchet V district at the latest, and the new commercial operations that have now been planned or already built should have been connected. "Then acceptance would also be significantly greater," he is convinced. “The operator calls his system a thermal power station, but it doesn't heat anything.” But there are obviously plans, namely a shrimp farm.

What is evident in the action alliance is good cooperation between all groups in the matter. “I'm delighted,” said Ohr. Most recently, the SPD Schongau declared its membership. And Bettina Buresch (Greens), the city's environmental officer, started an online petition that currently has 1184 signatories (as of Tuesday 4.30 p.m.).

Last week, the operator of the heating power plant had also spoken out for the first time, and had previously left all interview requests unanswered. He says: "We don't burn any garbage"
