Trump Governance Update Israel that it intends to submit tomorrow (Thursday) the UN Security Council a request to activate the mechanism of the "Snapback" automatic return of international sanctions on Iran, have been removed as part of the core - so said senior Israeli officials.

Officials noted that the US update He was transferred to Israel on Monday. According to the update, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will arrive in New York tomorrow and deliver letters to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and to Indonesia's ambassador to the UN - who serves as the Security Council's incumbent.

In the letters, the United States will demand that the mechanism be reactivated, and immediately after its submission, a period of 30 days will be opened for internal Security Council discussions on the issue, which are expected to turn into a sharp international diplomatic and legal crisis. During these 30 days, Security Council members can submit a resolution to extend sanctions on Iran, but the United States can veto such a decision.

The nuclear deal with Iran stipulates that any of the signatory countries - the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany - can at any stage request an automatic return of sanctions on Iran if it thinks it has violated the agreement. Under the agreement such a requirement cannot be vetoed.

Russia and China argue that the United States cannot request the activation of the sanctions renewal mechanism because it has announced its withdrawal from the nuclear deal and thus waived its right to do so. The Americans, on the other hand, argue that the right to demand an automatic reversal of sanctions on Iran is granted to them by virtue of the fact that they are still a signatory to the Security Council resolution, which adopted the nuclear deal and the snapback mechanism.

The Americans went on the move after failing last week in an attempt to pass a Security Council resolution that would extend the arms embargo on Iran, which is due to expire in October. Washington estimates that despite the political and legal crisis at the UN, the imposition of international sanctions on Iran will not be stopped, and that the whole move will lead to the final collapse of the agreement and Tehran's withdrawal from it.

The Trump administration's motivation to push this crisis If Democratic candidate Joe Biden wins the November presidential election, it will be difficult to impossible to get the nuclear deal back on track.
