The political system is stagnant, ahead of the expected dissolution of the Knesset on Monday. Although yesterday, in a conversation with Bnei Gantz, Benjamin Netanyahu tried to try to say, "Let women put political considerations aside," neither side is really willing to be flexible.

Netanyahu's entourage - which will decide over the weekend whether to cast its weight to find a last-minute solution before Israel goes into another election spin - insisted, even yesterday, that he was not interested in going to the polls. In closed talks, the Prime Minister says that there is a great fear that going to the polls now will hurt the efforts that are currently underway for another political agreement, similar to the one signed with the United Arab Emirates.

The Likud also says that there is pressure from the Americans to avoid elections in Israel, since the administration wants to present achievements together with the current government before the November elections. If these considerations are not enough, Netanyahu's people repeat that going to the polls during a health crisis and especially economic Possible, and will harm both the country and the prime minister's chances of winning.

The prime minister's entourage rejects the discourse that it is better for him to go to the polls now and not in December, thus avoiding an election during a trial. The issue of justice does not change the picture of seats, as has been proven in the last three election campaigns.

Despite this, the fact that for the first time all the polls show that the right-wing bloc is stabilizing over 60 seats without Lieberman, does not reassure Likud members who claim that it is difficult to trust the polls and that in an election campaign everything can change.

Although the Likud has been pointing the finger at Gabi Ashkenazi in the past day, Netanyahu's entourage claims that the one who is actually torpedoing the possibility of reaching an agreement is Avi Nissenkorn, who "sticks everything, is not willing to move an inch from his position, is not willing to hear about changes. "His friends and to be portrayed as a fighter for justice. That's not how negotiations are conducted."

"Public confidence in the low"

One who is continuing his efforts to prevent elections is President Reuven Rivlin, who in recent days has held a series of talks with the heads of the parties that make up the coalition. The president met with Minister Yaakov Litzman, spoke by telephone with MK Moshe Gafni, with Minister Aryeh Deri and with Defense Minister Bnei Gantz, and also raised the issue in his meeting with Netanyahu this week.

President Rivlin stressed that it is inconceivable that the issue of budget approval would bring us to a fourth election campaign. He clarified that although there is paramount importance to honoring agreements, if budget approval is indeed the only obstacle in the way of election prevention, all coalition leaders must be flexible.

"Public confidence in his constituents will reach a severe low in the event of another election," the president said, "after three elections in less than a year we citizens feel cheated and full of apprehension."

In blue and white, preparations have already begun for another round of elections, and in recent weeks the identity of the campaign team has been examined at the top of the party. The party claims that there is currently no official compromise channel with the Likud, except for basic talks and proposals that come up all the time. "The feeling is that Netanyahu wants elections," said a senior official in blue and white. "We will not move from the biennial budget and we will not change our position regarding the appointment of senior officials."

The Likud is already preparing for the deadline for dissolving the government and plans to implement Article 98, which will allow time to limit the debate in the Knesset and in effect prevent the opposition from withdrawing time with reservations and speeches until the deadline expires, thus causing the government to fall.

Yuri Yalon and Daniel Roth-Avnery participated in the preparation of the article.
