The Supreme Court today (Thursday) rejected the petitions against the election of MKs Zvi Hauser (blue and white) and Osnat Mark (Likud) as Knesset representatives in the Judicial Selection Committee. In the petitions, which were unanimously rejected by Justices Dafna Barak Erez, Anat Baron and Yitzhak Amit, it was argued that there is a "constitutional custom" that requires the Knesset to elect at least one representative to the committee belonging to the opposition factions.
The petitioners were the Movement for Quality of Government, the Israel Democracy Guard Association and a lawyer named Moshe Shapira.
