The Democratic National Convention advances and tonight reaches its third day of virtual speeches (due to the coronavirus pandemic). In a surprise appearance at the start of the third night of the Democratic Convention, Senator Kamala Harris appeared on screen to call on Americans to vote on November 3 and highlight the importance of going to the polls.

Roughly 19.2 million people tuned in on the second night of the Democratic National Convention this Tuesday, a much smaller number than in 2016. The first night, Monday, also had a lower rating than the opening day four years ago, according to data published by the Nielsen media analytics company.

Tuesday night's audience was down 22% from the 24.7 million people who tuned in on the second night of the 2016 convention. Monday night's decline was about 24%.

Where the Democrats did win in audience was on the webcast , which has shown signs of a significant increase compared to 2016. TJ Ducklo, national press secretary for Biden's campaign, tweeted Tuesday that the first night of the convention broke the previous record for digital broadcasts with 10.2 million.
