The Latakia Summer Exhibition 2020, which is currently being held by the Plastic Artists Union branch in Latakia, was distinguished by the diversity of artworks in terms of the multiplicity of methods and techniques used, whether in photography or sculpture, to single out a space of color, beauty and creativity that returned to Al-Bassel Art Gallery.

The exhibition, which comes as compensation for the Latakia Spring Exhibition that the Union holds annually for its members, which was absent this year as a result of the measures taken to prevent the Corona virus, had the participation of 30 artists from the members of the Union in addition to the presence of some participation from outside the Union and artists newly associated with it, which supports the artistic movement in Lattakia with a generation Of the youth capable of giving and creativity, according to Farid Raslan, head of the Union branch in Latakia.

Raslan, who emphasized the importance of the return of art galleries while adhering to the terms of safety and spacing, noted in a statement to SANA the turnout witnessed by the exhibition, which offers the recipient a richness and diversity through more than forty works between painting "oil, acrylic and water" and sculpting with "wood, stone and marble" in addition to engraving and graphics with Diversity of propositions within a vision to bring together the artistic work and the recipient and the development of artists' experiences with each participation.

The plastic artist Nidal Shaaban, who participated in a painting of his new works, relied on line, color and color spaces. He believed that the exhibition carries a great diversity in terms of style and techniques and in terms of intermingling between two generations, which creates an opportunity for dialogue and exchange of experiences.

As for the sculptor Mustafa Shaheyyes, who participated in a sculptural work on mulberry wood “composition” symbolizing the rise of “Syria of the phoenix” that is emerging from the ashes to the sky, he indicated that plastic artists did not stop creativity despite the absence of exhibitions due to the Corona pandemic. Art is a message of life and creating spaces of beauty that keep hope and joy despite All crises.

The artist and poet Rana Mahmoud participated in two works, one on oak wood that monitors a human condition and the other a sculptural work on artificial stone symbolizing the Syrian woman as she sees art as a projection of poetry and an expression tool to convey messages and feelings, noting that there are common poetic texts with her paintings and sculptures.

Saada Alou, a young artist recently affiliated with the union, is a participant in two graphic works depicting nature and storing part of the memory of childhood. She expressed her happiness with participating, pointing out that her works are adjacent to the works of artists who left their mark in art, giving her the incentive to develop her skills and techniques.

The exhibition will continue until the 24th of this month.
