At the end of the rightful owner of the bike is shot dead on the ground: In a satirical video of the public youth program funk is police brutality and racial profiling criticized. The video can be understood as a reaction to the most recent debate on these issues - but its oversubscription is far from being met with enthusiasm everywhere.

Now even the planned increase in the broadcasting fee (formerly GEZ ) is on the brink. Because the fees are also used to finance the funk offer and not everyone is of the opinion that they are well invested there. A CDU politician sharply criticized the clip - and took the opportunity to renew a popular demand.

“This video, financed with fee money from ARD & ZDF , is a slap in the face of all police officers in Germany. This is not the only reason why it is right that the planned increase in the broadcasting fee will not come. The CDU in Saxony-Anhalt will prevent that, ”tweeted Sven Schulze , Secretary General of the CDU Saxony-Anhalt about the video about police violence in Germany *.

In addition, the MEP writes : “I consider public service broadcasting to be indispensable in Germany, but, as here, I am always negatively surprised at what is financed with the license fees . A reform of public broadcasting is urgently needed! "

The author of the video Aurel Mertz , German comedian and television presenter, however, sees the satire video differently and also makes it clear on Twitter: “It's not about putting the entire police under general suspicion, but as long as we have pictures like the current ones from Frankfurt and When we reach Düsseldorf and racial profiling studies are canceled, we have to put our fingers in the wound. Broadcasting fee: An increase would apply from 2021

The background to the incident is that the Prime Ministers of all federal states signed the increase in the broadcasting fee (formerly GEZ) last June . However, all state parliaments still have to agree. The state parliament of  Saxony-Anhalt  was already considered a shaky candidate at that time  , as the dpa reported. There is headwind from the CDU *, the Left and the AfD.

An increase could come into effect in early 2021 . Then the current fee would be increased from 17.50 euros to 18.36 euros . It would be the first increase in over ten years.

The satirical video of the public service youth program causes a stir. Now, however, a police calendar appears, the contents of which are more than questionable *. (mam) * Merkur.de is part of the Ippen-Digital network.

The Prime Ministers have signed the State Treaty for an increase in the license fee. However, all country leaders and all country parliaments must agree.
