The prosecutor of the Criminal and Correctional Chamber II of Córdoba, Laura Batistelli, requested this Thursday the detention of the golfer Ángel "Pato" Cabrera , in line with the request that the Family Violence prosecutor of Córdoba, Cristian Griffi, had already submitted. for alleged violation of the restrictions imposed on the cause of gender violence initiated by her ex-partner.

Carlos Nayi, defense attorney for Cecilia Torres Mana, the woman who accuses Cabrera, specified to Télam that "what was added today is the request for the arrest of Batistelli, so now we have two," while maintaining that the prosecutor "is the one that decides whether to go to the international arrest warrant" for the golfer, who is in the United States playing different tournaments.

For his part, the golfer's defender, Miguel Gavier, told the media that "when he can, Cabrera will return to the country" and that he did not do so until now "because there are no flights."

Regarding Gavier's statement, Nayi said: "They are defense strategies, but as he left, he will have to return. We must investigate how it came out, that is the reason for another investigation."

Cabrera, 50, was due to appear last Friday at the Public Prosecutor's Office, but since justice did not do so, he raided his house in the town of Villa Allende and the police personnel were informed by the caretaker that he was not in the country.

The winner of the US Open 2007 and the Augusta Masters in 2009 concluded on Saturday his participation in the Senior Championship of Ohio, United States, valid for the Champions Tour circuit, for over 50 years, in 76th place among 81 players, with 236 strokes (+26), of the tournament that had the American Jerry Kelly as the winner with 208 (-2).

To leave the country, the golfer had to request judicial authorization and, presumably, he did not comply with that requirement either, sources from the provincial justice informed Télam.

The case involving the golfer had its outcome in December 2016 when, according to the file's instruction, his ex-partner, the police Torres Mana, denounced him for "mistreatment and punches to the face."

Nayi had reported that the prosecutor Griffi sent a letter to Interpol to "locate and capture Cabrera in the place where he is and be immediately transferred to Argentina."

The lawyer specified that the Cordovan golfer is about to face a prosecution process , before the Second Chamber of Crime, in two accumulated cases of gender violence against his client, one for "qualified minor injuries and threats", from 2017 , and another for "qualified minor injuries and theft" of 2018.

Likewise, Nayi affirmed that due to the different judicial maneuvers to "avoid the trial", the golfer represents a "procedural risk" and must be detained.

It also stated that the accused "violated several restraining orders", which had been imposed on him during the investigation of the case.

Cabrera's home was searched yesterday by court order because he had not appeared in court, as he had to do frequently, which is why the prosecutor Griffi issued the notices for him to be captured because "he could not leave the country without authorization from Justice ", asserted the lawyer Nayi.
