The United Arab Emirates has shown interest in acquiring the Blade Guard's "Blade of Light" system and Optidipense - for protection against skimmers. Israel Today has learned that even before the beginning of the year, even before there was open talk of normalizing relations between the State of Israel and the United Arab Emirates, government and security officials from Abu Dhabi showed interest in the Border Police's "Lahav Or" system and Optid Defense, developed to intercept explosive balloons. And skimmers.

According to information received by "Israel Today", representatives from the Emirates contacted Israeli officials who took part in the development of the system, regarding the possibility of purchasing several operational units. "Lahav Or" is the first system of its kind in the world, developed under the leadership of the Border Police and physicists from Optidipense, a company specializing in electro-optics and lasers, Prof. Ami Yeshaya of Ben-Gurion University and Dr. Udi Ben-Ami of the Ministry of Defense's Technology Development Center. And the IDF, and in combination with an Elbit system and other means provided by the Technology Division of the Land Arm.

The system operates day and night and aims to deal with the threat of explosive and incendiary balloons using a laser beam, which is launched towards the target and neutralizes it without endangering other factors in the area. The system is equipped with the ability to detect and retrieve images automatically, while transferring data quickly to the "light blade" system, which tracks and locks on the balloon, and with the help of a unique laser beam blows it up.

Among the salient advantages of the system, which may be of interest to the Emirates, is its ability to be used to protect strategic facilities within the territory of the country without posing a danger or disruption to any other air activity.

Now, with the signing of the peace agreement, all the parties involved in the development of the system express hope that the deal will be implemented.

Following the resumption of the launching of balloons from the Gaza Strip, the Border Police and the IDF re-located the system, which so far has intercepted dozens of incendiary balloons that were supposed to land in Israeli territory and cause great damage. The security forces in charge of the system refused to comment on the security ties that are being forged between the countries.
