The suspicions of the Prosecutor's Office of the Court of Accounts have a proper name that has been persecuting Podemos for months: Neurona Consulting. The formation signed for the 2019 elections this Mexican consulting company, linked to the Latin American left and for which one of its founders, Juan Carlos Monedero, had worked. According to the party in a letter sent to the supervisory body, this company was in charge of marking "campaign lines", analyzing the candidates, coordinating teams and producing material to "strengthen the electoral program and request the vote ”. A version that contrasts with that of the former Podemos lawyer José Manuel Calvente, who told a Madrid judge that those jobs were simple "smoke" and that behind, as the former manager had told him, even the attempt to make payments in abroad to people who in their day gave money to the party for its creation.
After hearing it, the magistrate charged Elías Castejón, a Sevillian lawyer who appeared in the commercial register as the first administrator of Neurona Comunidad SL This company is the one that appears in the Podemos contract. It was incorporated in March 2019, a month before 28-A, in the Seville municipality of Carmona after depositing a capital of 3,000 euros and declaring its corporate purpose: “The acquisition, holding, enjoyment, administration and disposal of securities and any type of securities and financial assets, being able, in general, to carry out all kinds of securities investment activities ”. Behind her were two partners: the Mexicans César Hernández Paredes and Andrea Edlin López Hernández, as indicated by Castejón himself, who adds that he ceased his duties last January, as the Official Gazette of the Mercantile Registry has collected since April. .
Hernández Paredes is, precisely, one of the people who heads Neurona Consulting in the North American country. According to the Mexican newspaper Milenio, the consulting firm worked there in 2015 for various left-wing forces, such as Morena and the PRD. Before that she had passed through Bolivia, where the Prosecutor's Office has been investigating her since last year for alleged "irregular contracts" that the Government of Evo Morales signed with her and that would have caused "damage to the State of at least 12 million Bolivians ”(1.5 million euros, at the current exchange rate), as denounced by the current Executive of the Andean country.
Monedero, whom Calvente pointed out as an intermediary and whom he accuses of charging a commission, assures that Neurona is attacked "for being a left-wing consultant." He also denies the accusations and says he had nothing to do with her on 28-A.
