" I would like once again to bow to the memory of these humanitarian workers and their companions, victims of the murderous madness of individuals without faith or law and to pray for the eternal rest of their souls ", declared the Prime Minister of Niger Brigi Rafini during a ceremony organized in the heart of the giraffe zone.

Representatives of the hundred international NGOs working in Niger and the French Embassy as well as Nigerien civilian and military officials were present at the ceremony, punctuated by a minute of silence.

Coming to Kouré, less than two weeks after the cowardly and barbaric assassination against French humanitarian workers and their Nigerien companions, is in my opinion a strong signal (...) of our firm determination not to bow down to the forces of evil ", hammered Brigi Rafini, assuring that the government has" made every effort to ensure that the authors and accomplices of this despicable attack are identified and punished ". " We are deeply sad after the death of our colleague and the seven workers (of the NGO) Acted, we are all brothers because we live thanks to the giraffes ", explained to AFP Ousseini Idrissa, one of the guides of the giraffe reserve, during the ceremony.

Brigi Rafini went to the scene of the attack where the carcass of the car, charred and riddled with bullets, on board which were French aid workers, is still visible. The launch of construction work on a stele in the reserve in memory of the victims, scheduled for Friday, was " postponed at the request of the families of the French victims, " a Nigerien official told AFP.

Young French aid workers, two men and four women, were murdered on August 9 with their Nigerien driver and guide, while they were visiting the Kouré giraffe reserve, 60 km southeast of the capital where they were. based.
