But how many holidaymakers are actually infected with the virus in the risk areas?
Vacation despite Corona: The proportion of Covid 19 cases after visits abroad is increasing again
Before the border closings in March, the highest level of Covid 19 cases transmitted to the RKI, in which an infection country other than Germany was named, was 46 percent. Means: Almost half of the infected Germans have contracted the corona virus abroad. After the borders were closed, this proportion was reduced to 0.4 percent . Since the first border openings, however, the Robert Koch Institute has noted an increase in infections abroad.
Most corona infections occur in these countries
In general, Germans are still most frequently infected in this country - 8,607 cases in the last four weeks - but the proportion of infections abroad is catching up again. At the beginning of August it was back at 31 percent . Most of the infections abroad occurred in Kosovo (1,096 cases), Turkey (501 cases) and Croatia (260 cases).

The RKI points out that the transmission and secondary cases can be greatly reduced through consistent prevention and early identification . For this, however, it is important that people adhere to the usual rules - keep their distance, practice hygiene and wear everyday masks.
