Ángel Di María was one of the great figures of Paris Saint Germain who made history and got into the final of the Champions League for the first time. Although the Parisian team was not enough to win the title and fell in the final against the great candidate, Bayern Munich, the Argentine was still one of the best of PSG on the field and his effort was rewarded.

This Monday the news broke: UEFA announced the Champions League Fantasy Football team of the season and Fideo,  by dint of his goals and assists, earned a place in the ideal eleven.

The formation, made up of the players with the highest scores in this campaign of the game sponsored by PlayStation, has eight players who were in the final: four from the new champion and another four from PSG. The only players who did not reach the final and who also made the dream team were Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), Erling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund) and Marcel Sabitzer (RB Leipzig).

Who were the players with the best score? Manuel Neuer (Bayern, 50 points); Joshua Kimmich (Bayern, 68), Marquinhos (PSG, 70), Presnel Kimpembe (PSG, 57) and Juan Bernat (PSG, 70); Serge Gnabry (Bayern, 79), Ángel Di María (PSG, 59), Marcel Sabitzer (Leipzig, 60), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City, 61); Erling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund, 56) and Robert Lewandowski (Bayern, 104).

It should be noted that this formation has nothing to do with a UEFA election, nor with a fan vote to choose the ideal team for the season, the results of which will be announced later.

That is why the absences of players such as Neymar, who was the protagonist in both the quarterfinal and semi-final matches, are not so surprising; Lionel Messi, who was unable to score points in the last few instances for being eliminated in the quarterfinals; and Cristiano Ronaldo, who was out of competition since the round of 16 due to the elimination of the Champions League.
