- At the Eichenkofener Kirchweihfest there is healthy "slow food" for real connoisseurs
Eichenkofen (pde) - For a chive bread with fresh butter, a steaming jacket potato, hand-made cabbage from the barrel that has been crushed with bare feet, a glass of freshly squeezed apple juice: Who wouldn't leave a paper burger and french fries with cola behind? The down-to-earth delicacies that will be made and offered at the Eichenkofener Kirchweihfest next Saturday have nothing to do with fast food. From 1 p.m. it starts on two farms with the baking of kirta noodles, stirring butter, cutting the cabbage and stepping in and pressing fruit. You can work off the calories again by pulling a rope, sawing competitions and lifting a beer mug.
Children learn that you don't need high-tech crutches for fun and games. "Do you fear the black man?", "Ox on the mountain", "Kaiser, how many steps can I take?" and "Don't look around, the fox is going around" are just as classic as dodgeball, ballashim`, house hopping, rope hopping, walking on stilts, a ride on the Kirta-Hutsch`n, rubber or sack hop. All of these games are much more communicative than an internet chat and worth bringing them back to mind. You can be entertained by a juggler from 3 to 4 p.m.
In the evening, the village community, which concludes its festivities for the 950th anniversary with the traditional parish fair, retreats to the barn to dance with funny interludes. The younger generation meets at the Ippisch-Hof for a disco party.
