The anger about Corona parties in Munich continues. Supporters of an online petition have now identified another “focal point of the city” in addition to Gärtnerplatz.

  • The kiosk at Reichenbachbrücke is a popular point of contact for night owls in Munich *.
  • An online petition is now calling for it to be closed.
  • The signatories should be happy about the city's planned corona measures.

Munich - Those who insist on a last beer on their way home from the Isar often buy it there: the kiosk on Reichenbachbrücke is a popular stop for night owls . The alternatives are rare, a "Späti culture" has not yet established itself in Munich. The kiosk's wide range of products is famous, the long queues in front of it are notorious ; cyclists who insist on their right of way can tell a song about it.

Munich: Kiosk at Reichenbachbrücke a “hot spot”? Closing requested in petition

Recently, there were tumultuous scenes at the Munich cult kiosk *. A violent dispute broke out, bottles were thrown, and a large number of police moved out. It is apparently reports like this that have induced a woman to make a drastic demand. On the online platform Change, Marion Paul demands the immediate closure of the company.

The kiosk, like the Gärtnerplatz *, which is misused for corona parties, is a “focal point” in the city. "Damage to property, fights, vandalism and public urination are evidence of this every day," says the petition addressed to Munich's Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD) .

Hotspot in Munich should close: "So that the area around the Isar can be safely enjoyed again"

“The kiosk is open day and night and primarily sells alcohol, ” claims the initiator. In the immediate vicinity, undisturbed, safe leisure enjoyment is no longer possible, Paul complains. To the address of Mayor Reiter, she explains: "We are calling for the Reichenbach kiosk to be closed so that this area around the Isar can be safely enjoyed again by all citizens and visitors".

The advance has not yet found too many comrades-in- arms . So far, a modest 51 signatories have been registered for the online petition (as of August 25, 9 a.m.). The decision-makers in the city council are unlikely to comply with the demand for the kiosk to be closed anyway. However, the current plans of the parliamentary groups could please the supporters: because the number of corona infected people in Munich is increasing again, a night-time alcohol ban * could soon come into force.

Corona Munich: alcohol ban should come - more drastic measures possible

From a  seven-day incidence of 50 (on Monday, August 24th, it was 30.92 *) , even more drastic measures are possible, such as a ban on entering certain places. As soon as the factions have agreed, the last disgruntled OB tab *issue an order. The ban would thus be legal, and the police and municipal field service could monitor compliance.
