The Christchurch mosque killer in New Zealand has refused the right to speak in his ongoing trial, court sources said on Wednesday (August 26th). Brenton Tarrant, 51, who had chosen to defend himself, has decided not to address the court in person, but a court-appointed lawyer will make a brief statement from him on Thursday.

The president of the Christchurch High Court of Justice is due on Thursday to sentence the white supremacist, convicted of 51 murders and 40 attempted murders.
