Brazilian councilor Pedro Marconi de Souza Barros (61), from the city of Pernambuco and the municipality of Brejo da Madre de Deus , ran over in front of a caravan of about 30 motorcyclists on a route, killing three people and injuring five more .
He was arrested and fined for the cause of "flagrant crime of homicide" (when there is no intention to kill) and serious accidental bodily injury. He was released after a hearing, reported Uol.br and the IstoÉ portal , among other local media.
The accident also left five seriously injured. It happened on the PE-96 highway, in the municipality of Água Preta . The congressman was driving a white Hilux SW4 truck north of the highway when he collided head-on with motorcyclists, police said.
The event was filmed in a video that is shocking and was recorded by one of the motorcyclists who had stopped to capture images of his fellow adventurers.
The court determined that he be provisionally released and, until the case is judged, he must appear monthly in the district of Brejo da Madre de Deus.

Nor will he be able to leave the municipality without the authorization of the Justice for a period of more than seven days. The Court also suspended his driving license .
The three deceased were identified as a couple from Maceió and a man from Recife, who participated in the group and died at the scene, according to the Civil Police.
The victims were identified as Eric Rodrigo Matias Soares (35), his girlfriend Monaliza Ferreira (23), both living in Maceió, and Wedson Santos (27), from Recife.
Five people suffered serious injuries and were rescued by firefighters and personnel from the Barreiros Hospital. One of them is very delicate , so he was transferred to the Getúlio Vargas hospital in Recife, according to UOL. The other patients remain stable.
Police reported that the initial investigations indicated that the driver was coming at high speed and "followed the opposite route, reaching the group." The vehicle's speedometer braked at 110 kilometers per hour while the maximum speed established on that route is 60 km / h.
If the councilman is found guilty, the sentences for the crimes he is suspected of committing can be up to six years in prison .
