The earth walls at the Kreuz surfing spot in Herrsching annoy water sports enthusiasts tremendously. Now there is an online petition.
Herrsching - winds of up to 60 kilometers per hour from the west - these are perfect conditions for surfers. Yesterday there was a correspondingly large crowd from Rieder Straße in Herrsching to the surf spot. The earth walls, which are supposed to prevent parking chaos, only seem to shift the problem. In the meantime, there is an online petition on the Internet from water sports enthusiasts who have already signed non-water sports enthusiasts from Herrsching.
As soon as the wind set in, the police had to return to the state road between Herrsching and Breitbrunn, where surfers in particular have their hotspot. This time, however, it wasn't park chaos that led the officers there. No, it was the green foils that flew from the parking barriers that were piled up in early summer, lay on the street and became a dangerous obstacle. Park chaos was not apparent at least at noon. The situation is different for the residents further south of the Eduard-Kandl-Straße. Kite surfers start and land their umbrellas diagonally across the promenade. And since the parking lot of the House of Bavarian Agriculture is no longer public, i.e. closed, the kite surfers with their cars in this area avoid the roadside or the side streets. Since the earth walls existed, the pressure on the side streets has increased, says one resident. She is therefore more bothered by the walls than by the water sports enthusiasts, whom she does not want to scare off.

An online petition that Michael Brandl from Weßling and the Herrschinger Andy Laufer and Sebastian Schöffel have just put online on openpetition.de is called “For the restoration of parking facilities for water sports enthusiasts in Herrsching, if necessary,” and which immediately generated almost 700 supporters . "With this petition we would like to make the Herrsching community aware of the really serious consequences of these measures for us athletes and encourage them to stand up for the concerns of all water sports enthusiasts (...) We would like to be heard about pending decisions by the community or the authorities, to present our positions and suggestions or to work out solutions together, ”it says there. Mayor Christian Schiller knows, however, that his deputy Christina Reich (CSU) had already made an appointment for a meeting. "Unfortunately, it was canceled again," he says and remembers that it was not the community that had the walls built up.
The closure of the Mühlfeld campsite, the parking lots at Kreuz on Rieder Straße and the parking lot of the farmers' association effectively excludes water sports enthusiasts from using the Herrschinger Bucht. After 50 years of surfing there, that's absolutely absurd ”, is just one sad comment on the Internet. The resident also emphasized that water sports enthusiasts should stay and a solution was necessary.
