This morning (Friday), the state filed a restraining order against the Teachers' Union in the Tel Aviv Regional Labor Court to prevent a strike. The state's request is submitted four days before the start of the school year, following the teachers' union's declaration of a labor dispute over teaching staff at risk and its threats that if no solution is found regarding the school year, it will not open.
The Teachers' Union declared a labor dispute this week due to a failure to find a solution with the Ministry of Finance regarding pension and sickness pensions and at-risk teaching staff. The Histadrut and the Ministry of Finance have reached agreements on the issue of pensions and sick pay for teachers, but no solution has yet been found for teachers at risk.
