Michèle Crouzet announces that she has joined François Bayrou's party and joined the MoDem group in the National Assembly.

Deputy Michèle Crouzet will no longer sit with the Republic on the move. The elected representative of Yonne has decided to join the Modem group in the National Assembly and to join François Bayrou's party, she confirmed on Saturday August 29th at Le Figaro .

Michèle Crouzet had already left the presidential movement in August 2019, while remaining related to the LREM group in the National Assembly. But she decided to go further. Thus it responds favorably to the outstretched hand of the president of the Modem group in the Assembly, Patrick Mignola. “If tomorrow parliamentarians from groups other than the Modem want to join us, we will welcome them with open arms. My group is intended to expand in order to expand the majority, ” he declared in early August to Le Figaro .

"I am not a slinger"

The deputy of Corrèze Christophe Jerretie was the first to respond to this call, leaving the LREM group to join the MoDem group. He is now followed by Michèle Crouzet. “I remain true to my political convictions. We remain in the majority and that is what matters. I am not a rebellion, I am not against the President of the Republic. I denounce the functioning of the LREM movement and I want to work in good conditions, ” insists the deputy who contested the strategy adopted by LREM during the municipal elections.

This is the 35th departure of the LREM group from the National Assembly since the start of the legislature. The LREM group no longer has an absolute majority and must now count on its allies, Agir et Modem.

The desire of the Modem to welcome disillusioned Walkers angered the presidential movement. "The debate is normal and salutary, but always refusing party quarrels or apparently condescension , " Christophe Castaner declared at the beginning of August. François de Rugy had invited the Modem not to “forget about mutual respect” . “This hand extended in the midst of summer ambiguity is unwelcome. At best it is completely useless at worst it blurs the image of the majority, ” reacted LREM deputy Bruno Bonnell, interviewed by Le Figaro.
