Briton Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) looks back on his victory at the Belgian Grand Prix this Sunday. Was this race easy for you? Was this race easy for you?
Lewis Hamilton  : From my perspective, what is impressive is the behavior of this team weekend after weekend. We are constantly learning and improving. I don't even know how we do it yet ... We learned some things from the previous race - which was already very good -, we made some developments on the car, we understand our tires better. My qualifying was incredible and I managed to keep this pace in the race, which is very positive. Even though I was alone on the track, it was still difficult with the tires. They had to be preserved. In the end, everyone had to ease off to get to the end.

So it's not your easiest victory this season?
The last one was probably easier. The Barcelona race is, I think, the easiest I have ever seen. Today's was positive but the start was stressful, as well as the recovery after the safety car. If we also look at qualifying, the weekend was pretty easy, but there are obviously things we can improve.

With five poles and five victories in seven GP, is it your best season to date?
Last year was one of my best years, if not the best, but I had a little slump in qualifying. Every year, the goal is to improve physically, mentally, in the methods we apply and I think I was able to do it this year. So yeah, I think I'm at my best.

Do you hear the reviews that say the race was boring?
I can't speak for the fans but I was. I lived through the Schumacher era so I know what it is. After the start and the restart after the safety car, you know that I don't make a lot of mistakes, neither do they (Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen, 2nd and 3rd, note). It's also difficult to overtake on this circuit, so I can imagine it's not the most exhilarating race. But I'm having fun in the car, otherwise why do it? I still manage to appreciate the fight by looking in my rearview mirrors where the others are, the lap times, the gaps, etc. Trying to complete each round is a real challenge for me, but maybe it's not very fun to watch. Having said that, of course I would like a wheel-to-wheel race. (...) I think Red Bull has made progress so I hope the next races will be closer because everyone wants to see us fighting. (...) But people must understand that it is not our fault, the pilots. We give everything we have on the track. It's the decision-makers, the people who design the cars, make the rules, who need to be pressured to do a better job in the future if possible. I hope that will be the case in 2022. With the new F1, maybe we will see another form of racing, where we can follow each other closely? It would be something! "
