Lebanese President General Michel Aoun emphasized the necessity of protecting and preserving pluralism in Lebanon and making it a true unity for all Lebanese.
Aoun pledged, in a speech he addressed to the Lebanese today, to call for a dialogue that includes the spiritual authorities and political leaders, indicating that a formula acceptable to all will be found to be translated with the appropriate constitutional amendments.
Aoun stressed that the transformation of Lebanon into a modern civil state means its salvation from the hateful legacies and their backsliding, and its salvation from sanctuaries, red lines and quotas that restrain any constructive will and halt any step towards reform.
Aoun said that Lebanon and the Lebanese deserve, after prolonged suffering, a state in which competence is the standard and the law is the guarantor of everyone's rights equally and belonging is the basis for the homeland, noting that the system based on rights and quotas was valid for a time ago and that today it has become an obstacle to any development and any advancement of the country.
