Munich * - Vandalism in the middle of Munich's old town : the statue of the popular actress Ida Schumacher on the Viktualienmarkt was overturned. The statue was found on the ground on Sunday noon. Employees of the municipal field service informed the fire brigade about their find.

Since the overturned base of the statue is a well , a large amount of water leaked out. The fire brigade arrived with a rescue vehicle and displayed the leaking drinking water via an access next to the well. The well was cordoned off, after which the fire department assigned responsibility to the police .

The fire brigade could not provide any information about the cause or amount of the damage. The police who started the investigation have not yet commented on the crime and were not available for queries from our editorial team on Sunday evening.
