The extreme weather is still with us: after yesterday (Sunday) there was a further rise in temperatures and there was a heavy to extreme heat load in most parts of the country, today it will continue to be hot and dry until it rains in the mountains and inland and steams in the coastal plain.

Heavy to extreme loads will continue to prevail in most parts of the country. In the northern Golan, southern Golan and its slopes, in the Western Galilee, in the northern valleys, in the Kinneret Valley, in Carmel and Ramot Menashe, in the coastal plain and in the lowlands, in the central mountains, in the Dead Sea coast, in the Jordan Valley and in the Arava, in the Judean Desert, in the eastern Negev and in the Negev.

On Tuesday there will be a drop in temperatures, mainly in the mountains and inland, but it will still be hot and dry and steamy on the coastal plain, and heavy to extreme heat loads will still prevail in most areas. On Wednesday, there will be a slight drop in temperatures, which will still be higher than normal for the season, especially in the mountains and inland, and there will be a relief in the heat load. On Thursday, temperatures will rise, especially in the mountains and inland. Heavy is expected in the heat load.

The unusual weather is expected to last at least until the weekend, and the demand for cold and cool air is at its peak. Already yesterday at 14:30 broke an all-time record in power consumption with 14,089 megawatts. The previous record was set recently, on May 20, with 13,954.

Ofer Bloch, CEO of the Electric Company, described the extreme situation: "This is an extraordinary challenge of managing the electricity supply and the production system, at exceptional temperatures. The weather puts the IEC to the test every year with challenges of and temperatures higher than the seller or in exchange, winter storms and strong winds. "I am happy that the skilled workers of the chain and the production, together with the partners in the private production, allow us to meet the demands and stretch the limits of the capabilities to the heights."

The Ministry of Health has published recommendations for dealing with the heat wave, which will culminate in temperatures in some areas close to 50 degrees, when they call on the general public, the elderly population and patients with chronic diseases in particular, to adhere to the following procedures: Avoid exposure to heat and sun. Physically not necessary, be sure to drink water and be as air-conditioned as possible.

The Nature and Parks Authority stated that it is strictly forbidden to light fires in nature reserves and national parks except in the approved places. In addition, it is recommended to avoid going on walks in open-air hiking trails for fear of dehydration and danger to life. You can walk to sites where the trip lasts a short time, the route is shaded and there are places for refreshments and drinking water.
