The Food and Drug Administration, FDA for its acronym in English, has approved that children ages 2 to 6 with type 1 diabetes can access artificial pancreas technology.

It is an automated insulin administration and monitoring system for use in young children.

According to the agency, the system called Medtronic's Minimed 77O-G is the first device of its kind for patients of this age.
